RICH IN NUTRIENTS

Barley remains one of the traditional grain crops cultivated on a massive scale in the north of Turkmenistan. So this year, it is planned to place his Dashoguz velayat on one thousand hectares. The main producers of this type of cereals will traditionally be the farmers of the S. Turkmenbashi etrap, where the total area of its crops will be 250 hectares.

The importance of this crop for agricultural producers of the region is due to the fact that it is the most valuable nutritious feed for animals, as it contains complete protein and is rich in starch. Barley is especially valued in horse breeding. At the same time, the cereal is characterized by unpretentious care, has an acceptable ripening period for the area and high yields. The growing season of spring barley depends on the varietal characteristics and the area of cultivation, however, according to experts, this is one of the most early-ripening grain crops. The culture is quite heat-resistant, salt-resistant, and also resistant to drought. It is believed that the cultivation of salt-tolerant crops, to a certain extent, increases the biological activity of saline soils and improves soil structure. Several domestic and foreign varieties of barley are grown in the Dashoguz velayat today.

Turkmenistan is actively taking measures to reduce the dependence of consumers on the external grain market, the development of grain growing and processing of grain products in the state, the creation of favorable legal, economic and organizational conditions for local producers. With this in mind, barley is a very promising crop for cultivation in the future in large volumes, as it has a wide range of applications. In the world today it is also successfully used for food, technical and even medical purposes. This is not surprising - in its grains there is a large amount of carbohydrates, various types of vitamins, minerals, as well as fiber, barley is rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, chromium, zinc, iodine.
