Issues of cooperation within international organizations are discussed
On 12 February 2024, a meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov and the Head of the Department of Multilateral Policy and Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia David Knyazyan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations and noted that Armenia is a co-author of a number of UN resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan in the field of energy, transport, as well as the proclamation of the International Day of Neutrality, the International Year of Peace and Trust, the World Day of Sustainable Development and others.
Ambassador M. Ayazov noted that the Embassy of Turkmenistan, jointly with the Cycling Track of Armenia, the Amateur Cycling Federation holds bicycle rides in the city of Yerevan every year and added that the number of participants increases every year, which has already become a good tradition of the sporting event, and that World Bicycle Day, established by the Resolution of the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan is celebrated annually on June 3.
The interlocutors touched upon the role of permanent positive neutrality of Turkmenistan, and in this context, M. Ayazov invited the Republic of Armenia to join the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development. The Ambassador added that the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development serves as a platform to start under the auspices of the United Nations a wide multilateral dialogue on the practical application of the principles of neutrality in preventing conflicts, eliminating their causes and consequences, and resolving humanitarian issues.
