A lecture at Yerevan state university on "Philosophical heritage of Magtymguly - the basis of the foreign doctrine of Turkmenistan"

On 20 February 2024 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov delivered a lecture for the students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Yerevan State University on the topic "Philosophical heritage of Magtymguly – as the basis of the foreign doctrine of Turkmenistan", dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi as well as the motto of the year 2024 - «Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi».

Muhammetgeldi Ayazov informed the students and professors, that the conceptual foundations of the current foreign policy of Turkmenistan are characterized as a manifestation of the high ideals that Magtymguly preached in his time. The great philosopher and poet traveled a lot and, being in other countries, he was telling people living there about his homeland, about the Turkmen people, its traditions and customs.

And today's foreign policy of Turkmenistan is a continuation of his ideas and representation the role of the Turkmen people to the world. These ideas formed the basis of maintaining the neutrality of the Turkmen state, continue to be a source of wisdom, continuity and, at the same time, innovation and relevance of the political-diplomatic line of Turkmenistan.

Ambassador Ayazov told that the wisdom of Fragi is a tune of unity, a call to peace, friendship and brotherhood, a school of patriotism. In his poems, the Magtymguly calls all generations to unity, brotherhood, respect for national customs, traditions and spiritual values, calls to be humane, patriotic, honest and fair.

Muhammetgeldi Ayazov also touched upon Turkmen-Armenian cultural and literary ties, which have had deep roots. He reminded that the works of such Armenian poets as Gegam Saryan, Egishe Charents, Silva Kaputikyan were translated into Turkmen language and published in different literary publications and magazines.

The Ambassador informed that in Turkmenistan, the journal «Dünýä edebiýaty» (World Literature) is being published, in which the works of Armenian writers and poets are published, as well as articles of Armenian authors translated into the Turkmen language.

It was noted that articles by the Chair of Turkic Languages Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies , professor Alexander Safaryan, Amalia Petrosyan - the senior lecturer of the same faculty, poet-translator Varuzhan Khastur - whose attractive translations were published in the third edition of the collection of Magtymguly's poems in the Armenian language, were frequently published in periodicals of Turkmenistan.

It is noteworthy to mention, that for the glorious celebration of the 300th anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi as well as the motto of the year 2024 - «Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi» the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia issued postcards on the theme of Magtymguly Fragi, on the back of which some excerpts from the translations of Magtymguly into Armenian by the poet-translator Varuzhan Khastur were printed.

Postcards with poems of Fragi in Armenian were distributed to students. The lecture was held in an interactive format. In the continuation of the lecture, the Ambassador asked the students of the Turkic languages to recite the poems of Magtymguly which was done with great enthusiasm.
