On 2 June 2024 the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia jointly with the Yerevan City Hall organized a bike ride dedicated to World Bicycle Day celebrated on June 3.

At the opening ceremony Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov noted the significance of the UN General Assembly Resolution adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan on the establishment of World Bicycle Day, as well as the leading role of Turkmenistan in the popularization of cycling.

Ambassador M. Ayazov emphasized the benefits of cycling for improving human health, in particular, improving sleep quality, accelerating metabolism, increasing immunity, maintaining muscle tone, reducing stress, improving brain function, and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Participants of the festive sports event were familiarized with the state policy of Turkmenistan in the field of sports. The resolution declaring June 3 as World Bicycle Day demonstrates the world community’s support for Turkmenistan’s efforts to develop a mass health movement, create a culture of cycling, and international cooperation in the field of sports and the environment.
