Turkmenistan and Italy are committed to developing multifaceted relations

On January 14, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Edmondo Cirielli, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.

During the meeting, the diplomats noted the importance of bilateral political dialogue. The prospects for developing relations between Turkmenistan and Italy in the trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed.

It was noted that contacts at high and the highest levels play an important role in promoting bilateral relations.

The sides also discussed prospects for cooperation within the framework of international organizations and in the «Central Asia – Italy» format. The positive experience of interaction on the UN platform was emphasized. The importance of mutual support for international initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and sustainable development was emphasized.

The parties expressed confidence in the continuation of a fruitful partnership in all areas of mutual interest.

On the same day, Turkmen-Italian political consultations took place.

The Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, and the Italian side by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli.

During the consultations, the sides discussed the condition and prospects of Turkmen-Italian cooperation. Alongside, an exchange of views took place on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The interlocutors discussed issues of hosting joint events within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The diplomats noted the great potential for expanding trade and economic cooperation. In this regard, the relevance of holding meetings and forums between representatives of private sector was emphasized.

The importance of strengthening interstate cooperation in the fields of archaeology, education and culture was underlined.

The parties confirmed their mutual commitment to intensifying political dialogue and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
