President of Turkmenistan meets with President of Tsukuba University

On April 15, 2025, in Tokyo, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the University of Tsukuba Kyosuke Nagata. Members of the official delegations of both countries also took part in the meeting.

Thanking the head of state for the opportunity to meet, the head of the University expressed confidence that the current visit of the President of Turkmenistan will contribute to further deepening of relations established in the field of education.

Taking the opportunity, the President of the University conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the National Leader of the Turkmen people. Kyosuke Nagata also congratulated the head of state on the successful National Day of Turkmenistan at the World Expo 2025.

Noting that he was glad to meet with Tsukuba Kyosuke, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the great attention paid by Turkmenistan to strengthening relations with Japan, and conveyed greetings from the Hero Arkadag.

As was emphasized, at present, the interstate dialogue is consistently developing in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Turkmenistan and Japan carry out effective cooperation in the field of education. Direct contacts have been established between the higher educational institutions of the two countries. According to the adopted documents, various events are regularly held between the higher educational institutions of the two countries.

During the meeting, a ceremony was held to award the head of Turkmenistan with a diploma on the academic title of “Honorary Doctor” of the University of Tsukuba.

As Kyosuke Nagata noted, taking into account the merits in the development of cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere, a decision was made to award President Serdar Berdimuhamedov this honorary title.

Then, in a solemn atmosphere, the head of state was presented with a diploma. At the same time, it was emphasized that Hero-Arkadag, along with large-scale state activities, pays great attention to scientific research, is also an honorary doctor of this University.

Having expressed his sincere gratitude for conferring the title of “Honorary Doctor” of the University of Tsukuba of Japan, the head of state noted that he perceives this award as a sign of great respect for Turkmenistan and a symbol of the high level of interstate relations, in particular, in the field of education.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the head of the University of Tsukuba exchanged best wishes.
