In the name of strengthening transport connectivity and trade and economic integration

On April 18, 2025, a round table entitled “Development of transport connectivity and trade and economic integration in the region of Central Asia and the South Caucasus in the context of the Ashgabat Action Program (2024–2035) and the Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035)” was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The round table was attended by heads and employees of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as media representatives.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and Executive Secretary of the International Center for Transport Diplomacy Igor Runov in their speeches noted that the creation of an extensive, safe international transport infrastructure is one of the integral factors of universal sustainable development, and emphasized the priorities, tasks and practical steps to further increase the potential of transport diplomacy.

The round table continued its work within the framework of three thematic sessions: “Practical contribution of the countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus to the implementation of the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035)”, “The Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries: tasks and promising projects”, “Information on upcoming events dedicated to transport in Turkmenistan until the end of 2025”.

As was emphasized in the speeches, taking an active position in consolidating common efforts in the field of transport, including in the UN format and other authoritative international platforms, neutral Turkmenistan initiates and, together with foreign partners, successfully implements large infrastructure projects.
