Meeting with the Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia

On June 26, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Byashimova and the newly appointed Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) Batyr Mamedov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues in the field of environmental protection, ecology and climate change. Issues of interaction were considered, in particular, the efforts of Central Asian countries in combating the negative consequences of climate change, international initiatives of Turkmenistan in the field of environmental protection, as well as issues of implementing joint projects.

It was noted that, having ratified the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, Turkmenistan fulfills all its obligations.

The parties also discussed the active work of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan, whose activities are aimed at promoting the development of a regional dialogue between representatives of environmental and water agencies of the countries of the region.

The interlocutors shared interest in developing mutually beneficial relations between Turkmenistan and CAREC.
