A meeting of representatives of the Caspian states took place in Avaza

On August 5, 2025, a meeting of representatives of the Caspian states took place in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan. 

The event, organized by the Turkmen side, was attended by high-ranking representatives of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan.

The participants of the meeting shared their vision of cooperation in the Caspian Sea, including ensuring environmental safety and protection, preserving the biodiversity of the Caspian Sea, and careful use of its resources. The focus was on approaches to resolving the problem of shallowing of the Caspian Sea.

In his speech, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov noted the importance of coordinating interaction in accordance with the decisions and agreements reached at the Summits of the Heads of Caspian States. Turkmenistan's active position in resolving environmental issues in the Caspian was emphasized.

Turkmenistan's proactive policy on the Caspian issue was particularly emphasized. In this context, the ongoing work on the implementation of the Caspian Environmental Initiative, announced by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the plenary meeting of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, was noted.

Having expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the high organizational level of the meeting, members of the foreign delegations spoke in favor of continuing the constructive dialogue on Caspian issues.
