Meeting of the National Intersectoral Coordination Committee for the implementation of the “One Health” approach held

The third meeting of the National Intersectoral Coordination Committee for the implementation of the “One Health” approach in Turkmenistan took place in Ashgabat. The meeting was organized by the World Health Organization Country Office in Turkmenistan at the Public Health and Nutrition Center of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.
The meeting was attended by representatives of key ministries, agencies, and international partners. In particular, the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, and the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan. They provided a comprehensive assessment of progress in implementing the project “Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Pandemics within the Framework of the ‘One Health’ Initiative in Central Asia, in Turkmenistan.”
Participants discussed the implementation of the “One Health” approach in sectors such as human health protection, environmental health, and animal health. Strategic priorities were also reviewed, and joint activities were proposed to further strengthen Turkmenistan’s preparedness for possible future pandemics. This initiative highlights Turkmenistan’s steadfast commitment to the “One Health” concept, which entails integrated efforts across various disciplines to address health challenges at the interface of human, animal, and environmental interactions.
