Schoolchildren of Turkmenistan clashed in a Robot Sumo Battle at the Kids Expo

On August 23, a "Robot Sumo" competition took place as part of the International Exhibition "Kids Expo: All for Kids," held in Ashgabat. About 50 young enthusiasts from across the country participated in this spectacular tournament, organized jointly by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the private enterprise "Döwrebap Maslahat."
The competition was held in an individual format, where participants placed their robots in a special arena. Similar to traditional Japanese sumo wrestling, the main goal of each robot was to push the opponent out of the designated area. The intense battles demonstrated not only technical skills but also the strategic thinking of the young designers.
All participants showed a high level of preparation and creativity, striving with all their might to prove the superiority of their machines.
During the competition, the students presented robots that they had assembled themselves. Each robot weighed 1.2 kg and measured 25x25 cm. The battery voltage did not exceed 12 volts, and "Arduino T-T" motors were used. “The key element for victory was the strategy embedded in the robot’s program code,” said Ismail Hakimov, the chief judge of the competition.
Based on the judging results, the winners were announced. First place went to Alihan Akgaev, a student of the Joint Turkmen-Russian Secondary School named after A.S. Pushkin. He is also a trainee at the Turkmen-Indian Center for Information Technology. Second place was won by Rozymyrat Yagshymyradov, a student of Secondary School No. 13 with in-depth foreign language studies in Ashgabat, and a trainee at the educational center "Kämil bilim." Third place was taken by Aikhan Garyagdyyev, a student of School No. 18 in Ashgabat, who is also studying at the Turkmen-Indian Center for Information Technology.
The winners and prize-winners were awarded memorable gifts from the organizers. The "Robot Sumo" competition became one of the memorable events of the final day of the exhibition, highlighting the growing interest of Turkmenistan’s youth in robotics and advanced technologies.
