Turkmenistan proposed holding a forum on the Caspian Environmental Initiative

The Caspian Environmental Forum could become an important part of continuing effective work on environmental issues and establishing a fundamental approach to them. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed holding the forum as early as 2026 at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
«Our country will promote the Caspian Environmental Initiative, launched at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, which aims to become an international platform for preserving the Caspian Sea ecosystem. The Caspian Environmental Forum, which we propose holding in 2026, is intended to be an important step in this direction», said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The head of state also noted that Turkmenistan will continue to work on environmental and climate issues, seeking their systematic consideration as a fundamental approach to ensuring security and the creation of multilateral mechanisms for monitoring and responding to climate, environmental, and man-made disasters.
