Turkmenistan proposed creating a universal international instrument for cooperation in the name of protecting the health of the children
Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice-president for medical affairs at the Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, proposed formulating a unified framework for the responsibility of states, their peoples, and organisations for the health of the children within the framework of a single International covenant.
On the 10th of December, the Vice-president of the Charitable Foundation spoke at the International conference «The Role of women in modern society: developing international cooperation to achieve the sustainable development Goals», held in the «Avaza» National Tourist Zone.
Oguljahan Atabayeva noted that Turkmenistan always strives to make concrete proposals that could contribute to international cooperation mechanisms and the development of new effective formats and platforms for multilateral interaction, including at the UN.
«Let me introduce one such initiative, which we are ready to develop with our partners. The essence of this proposal is succinctly captured in the phrase: «Every child has the right to health». This initiative proposes the creation of an International pact for the health of the children, which will become one of the platforms for ensuring joint efforts in this area at the international level. Its goal is to formulate a unified framework for the responsibility of states and international organisations for the health of children, regardless of their place of residence, social status, or living conditions», – said Oguljahan Atabayeva.
As the speaker emphasised, the International pact will incorporate universal standards for pediatric medicine, including vaccination, early diagnosis, rehabilitation, treatment of mental illnesses, and mechanisms for sharing technology and medical innovations to ensure that advanced solutions are available to all developing countries.
At the same time, Oguljahan Atabayeva highly praised the role of women in modern society.
«Women in our region today are not just participants in the process; they are creators, mediators, and inspirers. Their experience is especially valuable in working with parliamentarians, youth, local communities, and implementing joint humanitarian initiatives both in the region and globally», – said Oguljahan Atabayeva.
