National Leader of the Turkmen people: neutrality is predetermined by the very history of the nation
At the «Ruhyýet» Palace in the city of Arkadag, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a general lesson and addressed the youth. A significant part of speech of Hero-Arkadag was devoted to the role of permanent neutrality as a guarantor of peace, internal stability, and the diplomatic course of the state.
As Hero-Arkadag noted, neutrality is predetermined by the history of the nation itself; the neutral status, recognised by the UN in 1995 and confirmed by three relevant General Assembly resolutions, is the greatest asset and is rooted in the history of the Turkmen people.
The legacy of the great poet Magtymguly Fragi was cited as an example of a peace-loving philosophy. The National Leader of the Turkmen People emphasized that today the country actively promotes peacekeeping initiatives in the international arena and continues to develop the theory and practice of neutrality, paying particular attention to the training of qualified international specialists.
