The head of state announced key economic targets of Turkmenistan at a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty

Speaking at a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty in Ashgabat on the 23rd of September, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov outlined key socioeconomic development objectives of the country for the coming years. The head of state named the modernisation of the national economy and improving the standard of living of citizens as priorities.

According to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, thanks to increased production across all sectors, the growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) of Turkmenistan remains at a consistently high level. The GDP growth rate is expected to be 6.3% by the end of the current year.

Particular attention in state policy is given to the consistent modernisation of the financial market and ensuring employment of the population. As part of the Concept for the development of the labour market until 2030, a number of enterprises are being built and modernised in the country. Due to this, it is planned to create approximately 5300 new jobs by the end of the year. The President of Turkmenistan emphasised that systematic work to improve the employment sector will continue.
