METHODS OF TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES IS A NEW TOPIC IN THE VIDEO LECTURE BETWEEN TURKMEN AND YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITIES

22 May 2020 in the framework of the implementation of the "Agreement of Cooperation between the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly and Yerevan State University” in the field of science and education, as well as on the occasion of the jubilee year - the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, Naira Poghosyan, senior lecturer of the Department of Turcology of Yerevan State University, conducted a training video lecture on the topic “Some features of teaching Oriental languages in the Yerevan State University.”

During the video meeting, which was attended by students, professors and teachers of Magtymguly Turkmen State University, N. Poghosyan spoke about the faculty of oriental studies at the Yerevan State University, about the departments, taught courses, the scientific and pedagogical field in Yerevan State University as a whole. According to her, teaching is carried out according to the methodology developed taking into account the peculiarities of the language thinking of Armenian-speaking students. The faculty also teaches languages and a number of historical and philological disciplines in Russian and English for foreign students.

Turkmen teachers and their Armenian counterpart shared some features and innovative methods of teaching oriental languages, using modern technologies related to teaching oriental languages and exchanged information on the used literature, textbooks and dictionaries.

At the end of the video lesson, teachers and students exchanged questions and answers about the features of teaching foreign languages, the methods of speech development used in teaching, about the problems that arise when teaching Oriental languages to the Armenian-speaking population. Also, Turkmen young linguists were interested in Turkic lexical units in the vocabulary of the Armenian language, which N. Poghosyan shared with great pleasure, giving interesting examples of borrowing Turkic words in the Armenian language. The course participants discussed important aspects of learning lessons learned from daily experience, agreed on the exchange of future educational and scientific practice, on the use of modern innovative technologies, such as similar video lessons and lectures. The participants in the training course expressed a common desire to strengthen and continue scientific cooperation between the two universities of Armenia and Turkmenistan, in particular on the training of high-level specialists through the exchange of experience with their foreign colleagues in the field of science and education, and also thanked the leaders of the two states for their continuous assistance in strengthening traditionally neighborly and friendly relations.
