MEASURES UNDERTAKEN BY THE MEDICAL WORKERS OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA IN THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 PANDEMIA WERE DISCUSSED DURING THE ONLINE MEETING

An online meeting of medical workers of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia was held on 24 June 2020 which served as a good platform for a comprehensive exchange of views on crucial issues in the healthcare sector as a whole and discussion of measures to prevent dangerous infectious diseases, in particular, the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.

During the meeting, epidemiologists and virologists of friendly countries shared information on ongoing preventive measures for COVID-19: in particular, Turkmen doctors noted that Turkmenistan had not recorded a single case of coronavirus infection and informed about the favorable epidemiological situation in the country. Turkmen doctors in their turn were interested in the situation in the country of their counterparts. Armenian colleagues spoke about the prevalence of the virus in the country, about the management of patients and the features of managing asymptomatic patients with a positive test for COVID-19, about the features of antiviral and antibacterial treatment, and the management of the epidemic chain to identify the source of infection. Turkmen doctors were also interested in the applied methods and techniques for protecting medical workers in medical institutions, to which Armenian doctors replied that the disinfectants did not change, they are traditional ones and noted that disinfectants can be found everywhere, particularly in the public transport, in public catering facilities for the use of the population. The representative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia also presented a visual presentation on the current prevalence of COVID-19, according to the outpatient and inpatient treatment regimens in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.

At the end of the videoconference, Turkmen and Armenian doctors thanked each other for the informative and constructive video meeting and agreed on the consolidation of the efforts of the international community in countering the spread of a new type of coronavirus infection and in overcoming the negative consequences of the pandemic.
