MEETING IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE CENTRAL ASIA REGIONAL ECONOMIC COOPERATION PROGRAMME WAS HELD

On October 20, 2020, the Senior Officials’ Meeting in the framework of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Programme (CAREC) was held through videoconferencing.

The event was attended by the heads and representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of the CAREC member countries, and the authorized representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).  The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, CAREC National Coordinator M.Serdarov.

During the session, a constructive exchange of views took place on the key vectors of CAREC, including the expansion of trade among the countries and enhancement of competitiveness, improvement of transport links, development of economic and energy routes.  The information on the implementation of the CAREC 2030 Strategy, including the recent initiatives and action programmes for current year was presented.  The participants also considered the proposals on the drafts of relevant CAREC Strategies till 2030 and discussed the preparation process to the 19th Ministerial Conference.       

The given platform serves as an effective tool for the expansion of economic, trade, transport and energy partnership between the CAREC countries and eventually of the whole Eurasian region.  The CAREC is chaired by the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in current year.
