TURKMENISTAN REDUCES INTERNET COSTS
President of Turkmenistan commissioned to revise the rates for Internet and other communications services. The issue-associated instructions were given during a working meeting that took place today to discuss the transport and communications sector’s development.
Addressing Vice-Premier Bayramgeldi Ovezov, who is in charge of the sphere, and senior officials in the transport and communications sector, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that there is a special need for improving the quality and expanding the potential of communications services in accordance with the Anti-Crisis Program for 2020-2021 and due to the widespread introduction of e-commerce, online services, the practice of working and studying remotely.
Today, the Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency has reduced the rates for ADSL Internet services with limited traffic, VDSL/ADSL unlimited Internet services, and leased lines.
The reduced costs are calculated separately for city residents, rural dwellers in velayat etraps, state-run enterprises and organizations, private entrepreneurs, non-state entities without foreign investors (economic societies, individual enterprises, etc.), and scientific and educational institutions of Turkmenistan. On average, the costs have been reduced by 22 - 52 percent. Turkmentelecom and Ashgabat City Telephone Network are Turkmenistan’s Internet service providers.
The Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency emphasizes that the established costs are not a one-time-only or temporarily available option, but an integral part of the long-term policy - “The State – for Man!”
The costs are presented in tables below.
