THE MAIN FOREIGN POLITICAL EVENTS ON THE PAGES OF SPECIALIZED MAGAZINE

First annual release of quarterly scientific and practical magazine of the Foreign Ministry “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan” has been published.

The review opening the magazine present the main aspects of development of relations with separate states including neighboring countries like Turkey, Afghanistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as with competent international organizations.

Thus, by the invitation of President of the Republic of Turkey recep Tayip Erdogan, the head of Turkmenistan took part in work of the XIV Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which Turkmenistan chairs in 2021, in video conference format.

Leaders of the country members and the ECO Secretary General, Dr. Hadi Sumaimanpur expressed confidence that Turkmenistan’s chairing in the structure would be effective and give new impulse to development of beneficial interstate relations, implementation of new projects and programs.

In the last days of March, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part as an honored guest in unofficial Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States (TURKSOY) held in video conference format at the invitation of the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Yolbasy, Honored Member of the Council of Cooperation of Turkic-speaking States Nursultan Nazarbayev.

In his speeches at these representative forums, Turkmen leader has re-affirmed the commitment of our country to wide constructive cooperation, which meets interests of common prosperity and sustainable development.

The editorial office of the magazine has organized some kind of round table session on the subject “The role of Turkmenistan in strengthening of regional and international cooperation”, having invited the head of diplomatic missions and competent international organizations, especially the UN, as well as representatives of foreign countries to share their vision of progressive and innovative policy of Turkmen leader and proposed important initiatives.

Acting Permanent Representative of the UN in Turkmenistan, Mrs. Christine Weigand has shared her opinion about the importance of new Framework Program of Cooperation in Sustainable Development between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN for 2021 – 2025 and implementation of priority objectives specified in the program.

Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov named Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on joint exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources of Dostluk Field in the Caspian Sea singed last January as the beginning of new stage in development of Turkmen – Azeri cooperation.

It was mentioned that important joint projects, especially in strategic fuel and energy, transport and communication spheres, are the evidence of mutual interest of the sides in diversification of the partnership. Lapis Lazuli international transport corridor occupies special place among them.

The importance of Lazuli corridor was also highlighted by the Chairman of Railroad Department of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Yamma Shams. Railway line Akina – Andhoy (The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan) connected to railroad system of Turkmenistan, which opening was held on January 14 this year with participation of the Presidents of two countries Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, is one of the main link of the corridor.

The commitment of neighboring states and their fraternal peoples to traditionally friendly and constructive dialog as well as active support provided by Turkmenistan to social and economic development of Afghanistan was confirmed by other important projects like the opening of 153-km power line between Kerky (Turkmenistan) and Shibergan (Afghanistan) as well as international fiber optic lines and transit routes Ymamnazar – Akina and Serhetabat – Turgundy.

Originally fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey serve the foundation for development of productive cooperation in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Turkmenistan Togan Oral noted. The diplomat expressed confidence that held and planned bilateral meetings would serve to intensify interstate dialog.

Status of permanent neutrality, initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan aimed at strengthening of universal peace and wealth, ecological and energy diplomacy are among current subjects of the magazine. Separate articles prepared by representatives of the Foreign Ministry and the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan are dedicated to these subjects.

An article about importance of celebration of various international days and dates reflecting the significance of universal values in achievement of the Sustainable development goals specified in 2030 Global Agenda completes the magazine.

Traditional section “Chronicle of diplomatic life”, which highlights bilateral relations, consultations between foreign departments, briefings, international online forums, scientific and practical conferences as well as meetings with delegations from different countries held by the Foreign Ministry in the first quarter of the year, raises big interest of the readers.
