TOKYO-2020: AT TURKMENISTAN - THE FIRST OLYMPIC MEDAL

In weightlifting competitions a silver medal in the weight category under 59 kg was secured by Polina Guryeva and it is the first medal for Turkmen nationals for the entire history of independence of the country.
The 22-year-old sportswoman lifted 96 kg in the snatch, 121 kg in the clean and jerk with a total lift of 217 kg to secure 2nd place.
The gold medal was won by participant from Taiwan Kuo Hsing-Chun, who having established two Olympic records – in clean and jerk and with an overall lift - 236 kg (103+133).
Bronze awards went to representative of Japan Mikiko Andoh with result of 214 kg (94+120).
On July 31 in the Olympic Games Turkmen weight-lifter Rejepbay Rejepov in the weight category under 81 kg will act.
On August 2 qualification in track and field athletics in which Mergen Mammedov in discipline of hammer throwing will act will take place.
On August 3 for medals Turkmen weight-lifter Ovez Ovezov will compete in the weight category under 109 kg.
On August 4 one can watch performance of weight-lifter Hojamuhammet Toichiev who will act in the weight category over 109 kg.
