UNICEF DELIVERED PREPARATIONS TO TURKMENISTAN TO PROTECT CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

The country office of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reports that more than 413,000 US dollars worth of dexamethasone preparations have been donated to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan for further distribution to relevant healthcare institutions throughout the country.
Amid the ongoing global pandemic, a UNICEF-funded supply of 4.4 tons of dexamethasone tablets and ampoules will support the National Acute Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response Plan and ensure the availability of an important medicine to treat patients with severe respiratory infections. Dexamethasone preparations are widely used as a common option to maintain the treatment of patients - both children and the elderly.
According to Alexandru Nartea, Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Turkmenistan, «Since the beginning of the global pandemic, UNICEF has been supporting the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, and this delivery of dexamethasone, – a preparation that has been tested and proven effective for the health of patients with respiratory diseases, –demonstrates our close partnership in ensuring a healthy lifestyle for every child.»
This is a continuation of the long-term cooperation of Turkmenistan with UNICEF, which over the past decades has consistently supported the Government of the country, providing services for the purchase and delivery of life-saving medicines, vaccines, vaccination-related equipment and hygiene products to protect children and families.
