Important step in strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and the WCO

A meeting took place at the Turkmenbashi International Seaport between the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Ian Saunders. The meeting was held within the framework of the WCO Secretary General's participation in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in customs administration, and reviewed measures to enhance the efficiency of customs authorities' activities. Special attention was given to the development of the WCO Regional Training Center, operating on the basis of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, and to the training of highly qualified personnel for the national customs system.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization was acquainted with the port infrastructure and the conditions created for the efficient movement of cargo and passengers.
This meeting marked an important step in strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and the WCO.
