Meeting took place between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the UNODC Office

On September 8 of this year, a meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and Oliver Stolpe, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Representative for Central Asia.
The meeting discussed priority areas of cooperation within the Passenger and Cargo Control Programme, implemented with the support of UNODC. Special attention was given to the work of the port control groups operating at the customs posts of Turkmenbashi, Ashgabat, and Farap, as well as to issues regarding the creation of a new port control group.
During the meeting, there was also an exchange of views on important topics such as further improving the work of customs authorities, strengthening regional security, and combating transnational organized crime. A separate topic of the meeting was the acquisition by the Regional Training Center of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan of official status. In this regard, issues related to the conduct of joint activities were considered. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation in the areas of security and sustainable development.
