With the help of advanced solutions, Turkmenistan is implementing a strategic course towards green energy

Turkmenistan is purposefully implementing cutting-edge innovative technologies from leading international companies to establish efficient and environmentally friendly electricity generation. This is confirmed by the implementation of renewable energy projects and the intensification of international cooperation in this area. This was stated by Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan, Annageldi Saparov, speaking at the international conference «Development of the construction, industrial, chemical, and energy industries of Turkmenistan» (CIET 2025).
According to the head of the department, Turkmenistan is consistently implementing a strategic course toward «green» energy and strengthening its export positions.
«A key area of focus is the construction and conversion of existing facilities to combined-cycle power plants (CCP). This technology, by using exhaust gas temperatures to generate additional power in steam turbine units, allows for significant savings on natural gas, reduces harmful emissions, increases electricity production, and creates new jobs», explained A. Saparov.
The speaker reported that a project for a new combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 1574 megawatts is already underway on the Caspian sea coast.
«The successful implementation of this project will significantly increase the installed capacity of the Turkmen energy system, improve the energy supply to domestic consumers, and create additional opportunities for electricity exports to the Caucasus countries and Türkiye», - added A. Saparov.
Analysing the situation in the context of the development of the digital economy, A. Saparov confirmed that Turkmenistan, with its reliable and developed energy network, has extensive potential for new investment opportunities.
In this regard, it was noted that the country can create favourable conditions for the implementation of mining technologies. The development of virtual asset regulation systems and the integration of mining technologies could be the next step in the digitalisation of the economy and attracting modern IT investment, A. Saparov emphasised.
