Turkmenistan actively develops transport corridors between East and West
Speaking at the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue Summit, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov presented a large-scale strategy to transform Turkmenistan into a key logistics hub of Eurasia. The head of state emphasized that the country adheres to the principle of “inclusiveness,” creating routes that harmoniously complement the existing transport network.
Turkmenistan is actively investing its own financial and material resources in the development of multimodal infrastructure. Among the key achievements, the head of state highlighted the modern Turkmenbashi International Seaport on the Caspian Sea, built with the participation of foreign partners; new airports in Ashgabat and the country’s velayats that meet international standards; highways linking Turkmenistan with Kazakhstan, Iran, and Afghanistan; as well as the construction of new high-speed roads toward Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
The President of Turkmenistan particularly emphasized that the new projects are aimed at creating sustainable connectivity between Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.
“We proceed from the need to form fair and inclusive principles of cooperation, under which new routes complement rather than replace existing ones,” emphasized President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
