Turkmenistan’s initiatives received unanimous UN support: key resolutions on energy and transport adopted
In 2025, Turkmenistan significantly strengthened the political and legal foundations of international cooperation. This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov at “International Year of Peace and Trust: Steadfast Steps of Neutral Turkmenistan” ceremony.
The main outcome of the year was the unanimous adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of a number of resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan. Dozens of countries around the world acted as co-sponsors of these documents, which confirms the high authority of our country on the global stage.
The head of the Foreign Ministry paid special attention to the UN General Assembly resolutions adopted on December 15, 2025: “The Key Role of Reliable and Stable Energy Connectivity in Ensuring Sustainable Development,” a document that lays the foundation for global energy security, and “United Nations Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035),” a large-scale initiative that defines the direction for the development of transport corridors over the coming decade.
As the Deputy Prime Minister noted, these resolutions are not merely declarations but practical working tools, as the documents already set out concrete steps. These include analyzing the current situation in the fields of energy and logistics, the work of special UN groups established at Turkmenistan’s initiative, and the creation of infrastructure linking national, regional, and global levels.
The adopted documents have become a reliable legal basis for shaping a new architecture of international energy and transport connectivity. Turkmenistan has once again confirmed its role as an active center for developing solutions to the global sustainable development agenda.
