TO THE MEMORY OF LEONID FILATOV: “HE IS OUR COMPATRIOT!"

Ashgabat hosted Leonid Filatov commemoration meeting. The Soviet and Russian actor, People's Artist of Russia (December 24, 1946 - October 26, 2003) spent his childhood and youth in our sunny city. The meeting was held by the representative office of the Rossotrudnichestvo Agency in Turkmenistan.

"The outstanding film and theatre actor, a brilliant playwright, screenwriter, director, talented poet, as fate has willed, all his life was tied in with two cities - Moscow and Ashgabat", - representative of Rossotrudnichestvo Evgeny Beloglazov said, opening the evening.

Actors of the Ashgabat ArtEast Theater Tatyana Ovezmuradova and Igor Annaklychev told the guests about the creative life of Leonid Filatov, his works in theater, cinema and television, literary and social activities, demonstrating video, audio and photo documents.

It turned out that not only videos, photographs or documents, but also the participants of the meeting could tell many interesting things about Filatov. In the final part of the evening, Evgeny Beloglazov invited the guests to share their memories. A kind of epilogue became the most emotionally intense part of the evening, penetrated with the notes of nostalgia and pleasant light sadness.

Meeting participants emphasized that Filatov had never broken off the ties with his hometown, where his family lived, and his father was buried. “He is our fellow countryman and we are proud of it!” meeting participants underlined at the end of the meeting.
