CONSTRUCTION OF TURKMEN PART OF TURKMENISTAN – AFGHANISTAN POWER LINE IS UNDER COMPLETION

Turkmen part of 220 kV powerline Turkmenistan – Afghanistan is ready for commissioning works. Turkmen commercial contracting organizations, to which investor and general contractor, Turkish Çalik Enerji has entrusted the construction of 260 km part of the power line, have reported on completion of the task.
Construction personnel have installed all 876 high-voltage pillars and run the cables along entire route on time. Previously, electrical staff has accomplished the expansion of the capacity of open distribution unit at Mary SPS, from the power lined will be powered.
At present time, the construction of 220/110/10 kV substation is carried out in Serhetabat. The works will be completed according to the schedule by the end of the months. Communication telecontrol systems and more modern relay protection meeting international standards will be installed for better reliability on Turkmen part of the power line. Opening of 220 kV Turkmenistan – Afghanistan power line is planned this August.
Turkmen energy sector specialists plan to continue increasing supplies of electricity to foreign countries. Total production capacity of the power stations of the country, development of national integrated energy system as well as experience in building of distant power lines make it possible.
