Caring for forests

Consistent work to preserve the genetic fund and biological diversity of forests located in the north of the country is carried out by the team of the Dashoguz velayat forestry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.
One of the responsible silvicultural works, which are important for the reproduction of forests, the preservation of their genetic fund and biological diversity, is the annual collection of seeds of trees and shrubs. So this autumn, the specialists of the farm successfully collected seeds of deciduous, coniferous and fruit trees. Harvested hundreds of kilograms of seeds will make it possible, among other things, to fully provide the farms with seed material.
Soon, the team will have to work in an organized manner to collect seeds of saxaul, which plays a huge role in maintaining the balance of the local ecosystem, the environment-forming ability of which is also widely used to create protective belts.
Only high quality reproductive material is used for reforestation.
The activities carried out in the Dashoguz velayat to protect, maintain in good condition and form new forest zones are one of the effective areas of multifaceted work that contributes to the further improvement of the environmental situation in the region.
Among the large projects successfully implemented by the state in this area, it should be noted the creation on the eastern shore of Sarykamysh Lake, on the territory of the Botendag Upland, a large buffer forest zone that can prevent the transfer of dust and salts and contribute to the enrichment of the local flora and fauna. Here, on the basis of the recommendations developed by Turkmen scientists, a huge number of salt-resistant and soil-fixing crops, including black and white saxaul, cherkez, kandym and others, have been planted.
