Meeting of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Armenia with the Vice-Rector of the Yerevan State University

On 21 February 2023, a meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia M. Ayazov and the Vice-Rector for Development and Innovation of Yerevan State University of the Republic of Armenia Mikael Hovannisyan. The Head of the International Cooperation Department of the same university, Professor Aleksandr Markarov, also participated in the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, M. Hovannisyan spoke about the activity of the Yerevan State University. At present, great efforts are being made in the university to attract students from different countries of the world. Scholarships are also available to a certain number of foreign students who study in groups. More than 600 subjects are taught at the university. This university is included in the top thousands of the world's most prestigious universities.

Ambassador M. Ayazov expressed his gratitude for the detailed information provided, and noted that the university's relations with the higher education institutions of Turkmenistan are being conducted at a high level. Professors of Yerevan State University visited Turkmenistan several times and delivered lectures on various topics to Turkmen students.

As the Ambassador mentioned in the meeting with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers Turkmenistan held on 26 January 2023 stated that youth policy is one of the priorities of the state policy. M. Ayazov also said that the Head of State noted the expediency of activating international partnership and exchange of experience in the field of education and inviting famous students to conduct classes in Turkmen universities.

Along with the aforementioned, the Ambassador informed about the plans to hold various events to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Pyragy within the framework of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Armenia, which is planned to be held in this year. As part of these activities, he offered to hold a scientific-practical conference under the name "Magtymguly Pyragy - in the history of world culture" jointly organized by Magtymguly Turkmen State University and Yerevan State University.

M. Hovannisyan declared that he fully supports the mentioned proposal.
