Yerevan State University again hosted the conference dedicated to Magtymguly Fragi

On 11 March 2024 within the framework of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the outstanding classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi, an International scientific and methodological conference dedicated to the life and work of Magtymguly Fragi was held at the Yerevan State University.

The conference was attended by the Ambassadors of Kazakhstan, China and Serbia, representatives of the country's diplomatic corps, students and professors of the Yerevan State University, scholars, prominent cultural and art figures of Armenia.

The rector of the Yerevan State University Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov addressed the conference participants with welcoming remarks.

The head of the Department of Turkic Studies of the Yerevan State University Alexander Safaryan, the head of the Department of Turkmen Language of the Magtymguly Turkmen State University Gulruh Gurbanova, the former Ambassador of Armenia to Turkmenistan Aram Grigoryan have had their reports on the Conference.

The floor was also given to the poet-translator Varuzhan Khastur, the author of brilliant translations from Magtymguly’s original, who after his speech recited one of his translations in Armenian “Gözel sen”.

With a creative performance Ashug Astkhanush read her acrostic poem dedicated to Magtymguly, after which she drew the attention the conference participants with her magnificent singing.

People's Artist of Armenia Mayranush Grigoryan also recited the poem of the great Magtymguly “Kyly-kal bolar” in Armenian.

As previously announced, for the glorious 300th anniversary of the outstanding Magtymguly Fragi, the Embassy issued postcards, on the back of which were printed the translations of the poet-translator Varuzhan Khastur of Magtymguly’s works into Armenian.

The conference was concluded with a recitation by students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of translations of Magtymguly’s poems from postcards which were presented to all participants of the forum.
