The 21st Kazan International Film Festival "Altyn Minbar" will take place from September 5 to 9 in the capital of Tatarstan. At this prestigious film forum, two films by the "Turkmenfilm" Association named after Oguzhan will be presented – "The Tree of Fate" and the joint Turkmen-Uzbek project "Magtymguly Fragi".

The film by Turkmen director Sahysalykh Bayramov, "The Tree of Fate" (2023), was included in the special non-competitive program "Through the Prism of Memory," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The film tells the story of the main heroine Nazik, whose husband volunteers to go to the front. She faces many years of waiting for her beloved’s return. Despite the fact that the tree planted by her husband before his departure withered, Nazik continued to water it and believe in the best.

The joint work of Turkmen and Uzbek filmmakers will be shown in the non-competitive program "Russia – Islamic World." The film "Magtymguly Fragi" (2024) is dedicated to the life of the Turkmen classic who lived in the mid-18th century. The picture, made for the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker, vividly highlights the period of his stay on Uzbek land, studying at the Kukeldash madrasah in Bukhara and the Shergazi-Khan madrasah in Khiva, as well as other important facts of his biography.

The "Turkmenfilm" Association, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, considers participation in the international event a great honor and recognition of the significance of its activities.

Recently, the film "Magtymguly Fragi" was presented in Astrakhan at the anniversary 10th Caspian Media Forum, which gathered representatives of the film industry from Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. The creators of the film from Uzbekistan – director Muzaffarkhon Erkinov, director of photography Ravshan Mirzakamalov, and actor Behzod Mirzaev – spoke about the filming process and collaboration with their colleagues.

Amangeldi Atayev, the chief specialist of the International Relations Department of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting, and Cinematography, noted that the joint work on the film "Magtymguly Fragi" not only strengthened intercultural ties between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan but also became a good example of implementing joint projects.
