Turkmenistan will continue to expand the infrastructure of the "West-East" and "North-South" transport corridors

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty, identified the expansion of the infrastructure of the transit routes "West-East" and "North-South" as one of the important tasks.

The head of state emphasized that currently significant work is being carried out to develop passenger and cargo transportation by all types of transport and the full utilization of the international transport and transit potential.

"In this direction, Turkmenistan cooperates with the UN and other major international organizations. We consider the expansion of the infrastructure of transit transport corridors along the routes 'West - East' and 'North - South' to be an important task," stated Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

At the same time, the President of Turkmenistan noted that the country is undertaking the necessary work to develop the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transport corridor and to form an international multimodal transport corridor from the Asia-Pacific region to European countries.

In this context, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the construction of production and social facilities of the transport and communication complex will continue in the country, as well as the strengthening of its material and technical base.
