On June 2, 2019  in the Yerevan Cycle Track, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia jointly with the assistance of the Cycling Federation of Armenia, organized a bike ride dedicated to the World Bicycle Day celebrated on June 3.

It is noteworthy that Turkmenistan is the initiator of UN General Assembly Resolution of establishing June 3 as the World Bicycle Day.

Diplomats from different diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, members of the Cycling Federation of Armenia, students - citizens of Turkmenistan studying in Armenian universities participated in the cross-road race. Along with members of the diplomatic corps and students, young cyclists and members of the Yerevan cycle track also demonstrated their skills. The tournament was covered by Armenian media. 

At the opening ceremony of the bike ride, the importance of the UN General Assembly Resolution of establishing June 3 as the World Bicycle Day initiated by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was emphasized, as well as the leading role of Turkmenistan in promoting cycling was highlighted.

 The participants of the sports event were informed about the state policy of Turkmenistan in the sphere of sports, as well as the fact, that such sports events are a vivid confirmation of the commitment of Turkmenistan to a healthy lifestyle and the actively developing physical culture and sports movement in Turkmenistan. In addition, the words of the President of Turkmenistan were quoted, stating that “Sport by the virtue of its unifying, inspiring principle, also is an essential form for strengthening peace and friendly relations between states and peoples. Sport diplomacy has become one of the rapidly developing directions of the foreign policy of the Turkmen state, thanks to which the country is increasingly becoming the venue for major international competitions.
