PARTICIPANTS OF ONLINE MEETING DISCUSS INSTITUTION OF BUSINESS OMBUDSMAN IN THE COUNTRY

Webinar on creation of the institute of authorized representative for protection of entrepreneurs’ rights (business ombudsman) was held in Ashgabat under the project “Safe Migration in Central Asia”. The event was organized by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime with support of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

In the context of national strategy for strengthening of private sector of the economy, the establishment of the institute of business ombudsman is a positive step toward the solution of labor disputes in compliance with international standards.

Ambassador of the USA to Turkmenistan Mathew Klimov and authorized representative for human rights in Turkmenistan Yazdursun Gurbannazarova took part in the event.

Ambassador Klimov has noted in his greeting speech: “We highly appreciate the work of Turkmenistan for achievement of the goal No. 8 in sustainable development sphere, namely to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”.

During online meeting with representatives of the Office of authorized representatives for human rights in Turkmenistan, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and other departments, number of matters related to protection of labor rights has been discussed. The participants of the webinar have learned about advanced methods, which successful companies use according to the principles of human right protection.

Project “Safe Migration in the Central Asia” of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) is implemented in four countries of the Central Asia in close cooperation with local government authorities, civic society and representatives of business community.
