In recent years in the north of the country an interest of the local business society is increased in the poultry breeding, as one of the income-generating business activities. Today several private farms, producing the poultry meat and eggs operate in the region, and new farms are under construction. For example, the poultry farm of the individual enterprise «Köp pudakly», a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, is capable to produce and deliver to the consumers up to 30 ton of poultry meat per year, and is one of the first farms in the Dashoguz velayat organized on 4,8 hectares transferred by the state into ownership in the daykhan association «Pagtaçy» of Akdepe etrap. More two new modern private poultry farms of different capacity are under construction in the area of etrap named after S.A. Niyazov by the members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan individual enterprise «Arassa başlangyç» and individual enterprise «Esas gurluşyk».

Such development of the poultry farming requires from the entrepreneurs the creation for it of the reliable forage resources, for which the state assigns the large plots of land to long use. An adequate feeding of poultry requires the feed concentrates accurately balanced in terms of nutrition. Here is topically the replacement of the expensive grain raw materials, such as corn and wheat, with the readily available, search for most advantageous combination of the feed concentrates, and replaceability of the diet ingredients.

One of the traditional reserves of the high-energy grain feed in the Dashoguz velayat is grain sorghum. It is a drought-resistant and salt-tolerant crop, able to resist pests and diseases, and has a developed root system, that allow the plant to reach the wet horizon at a rather great depth. The grain sorghum grows well enough on the light sandy and heavy clayey soil and is a heavy yielder. It is observed that poultry fed with the grain sorghum increased an egg-laying capacity. This grain, which is rich in starch, is serves as poultry feed, as well as food for people, and the herbage of the grain sorghum is used as forage for the live-stock animals.

One more good additive to the diet of the local broiler chickens and egg-production chicken is the millet, cultivated in the north region from ancient times by the agriculturalists for their economic needs. It is rather low-maintenance plant with short vegetation period, high potential productivity, drought resistance. Millet can be effectively used as the agricultural plant grown in the intervals between the harvesting and sowing of main crops.

However, a new prospective type of feed for poultry in the region in future may became soybeans. Anyhow, now it kindles ever-growing interest of many rural residents of the Dashoguz velayat. Thus, some of them in the etrap named after S.A. on their household plots plant it not so much alternated with other more traditional crops. According to the grain-grower Rashid Yuldashev from the daykhan association «Nowbahor», this rather drought-resistant crop of legume family, in case of proper care, can be planted in unfavorable weather conditions of the north region. As you know, soybeans contain a high percent of protein and valuable nutritious components, that allow to use it as a not expensive and useful analog of meat and dairy products. Like many other pulse plants, it is a valuable crop for the crop rotation and can be sowed in fields where earlier were grown the cereal crops, for example, winter wheat, corn, potato, perennial wheat grasses. Soybeans ripen, depending on variety and climatic conditions, in different period, up to October. Rich in protein, it is a valuable feed for the poultry breeding. Its processing products promote the poultry weight gain. According to the experience of other states, such type of feed as soybean meal, obtained as a residual product after the soybeans thermal processing, is fit for feeding of all types of poultry, including chickens, young hens and quails. It is useful and for live-stock both as new mown and as hay, silage, haylage.
