EXCLUSIVE ARTIFACTS FROM THE PROVINCIAL MUSEUM

Today, the Tejen City Museum of History and Local Lore is one of the famous and frequently visited places among the inhabitants of our country. The museum was opened in 1990.

Since the day of its opening, many old and interesting artifacts reflecting the culture and life of the inhabitants of this region, as well as nature, have been collected here. Basically, these artifacts are like a gift from the natives of different parts of Tejen, whose life and fate was associated with this unique, at the same time rich history of the area.

Our attention was attracted here by the carpets woven in different years. Despite the fact that they were woven by famous carpet weavers of different eras, they have retained their grace and color to this day, which is inherent in the ancient carpet weaving of the Turkmens. They are also interesting because they can be used to trace the historical and cultural development of our people.

We would like to acquaint readers in more detail with some of these truly unique carpets. To do this, we had to study in more detail the registration journal of this museum. There, as they say, it was clearly written when and by whom these absolutely beautiful carpets and their technical characteristics were created. It is worth noting that traditional ancient patterns of this region were skillfully used by craftswomen on them.

The Tekin carpet, 1 meter long, 20 cm wide, was made in the middle of the 19th century. It was woven by Ogulgurban Durdyeva, a native of the village of Amanshagapan. Another carpet product for the saddle of an Akhal-Teke, 20 cm long and 24 cm wide, was woven at the beginning of the 20th century by a native of that village, Bayramsoltan Hummedova. And also a prayer carpet 1 meter long, 80 cm wide, the production time of which is counted between 1945-1950, the work of the talented hands of a resident of the provincial town of Patma Charyeva.

Museum researcher Kakadzhan Khaldurdyev:

— Last year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of our museum. During this short period of history, our museum has collected many ancient exhibits. We are proud that these rare and unique carpets have taken their rightful place among these priceless artifacts.
