SIGNING CONTRACTS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SILKWORM COCOONS

In the Dashoguz velayat, agreements are being signed with farmers on the production of silkworm cocoons. It is expected that over twelve and a half thousand tenants will take part in the responsible campaign this year. All of them will be provided with the necessary volume of grains of high-quality silkworm.
All-round state support for agricultural producers, including high purchase prices for cocoons, serve as an effective incentive for further stable production and contribute to the widespread involvement of the local population in the process of harvesting cocoons. In accordance with the planned task, this year it is again planned to procure five hundred tons of valuable raw materials in the region. The largest producers will be the agrarians of the etrap named after S.A. Niyazov, where it is planned to procure 184 tons of mulberry raw materials, as well as the etraps named after Gurbansoltan-edzhe and Gyorogly, whose contractual obligations for the supply are 80 tons each.
Due to climatic conditions, in the Dashoguz velayat, the rearing of silkworm caterpillars begins later than in other regions of the country. However, this does not prevent the development of a profitable sector of the agro-industrial complex at a high pace. The fodder base of the industry is rapidly expanding. Today, the total area of mulberry plantations in the region exceeds two thousand hectares. Every year, more new seedlings of mulberry trees are planted along the perimeter of agricultural land and along water sources, the leaves of which serve as food for silkworm caterpillars, and the trees themselves help protect other agricultural plantations from dry winds, strengthen the banks of irrigation canals and create a favorable ecological environment.
