CONSTRUCTION OF THE RESERVOIR CONTINUES

In order to clean the water from the silt coming from the Amy Derya, create a water reserve for the uninterrupted functioning of the Karakum River and provide agricultural land in the Mary, Ahal and Balkan velayats in the southeast of the country, Zeyit has been operating in the past, and since 2006 the reservoir «Garaşsyzlygyň 15 ýyllygy». This large reservoir, the first stage of construction of which was completed in 2015, holds 2.2 billion cubic meters of water and is very significant in providing water to the country's agricultural lands.

Currently, in the Motherland, along with an increase in the volume of agricultural products, work is underway to develop new agricultural lands. More and more water resources are required to irrigate ever-increasing areas. That is why the country pays great attention to the construction of new reservoirs and the expansion of existing and rational use of existing water resources. To this end, we started the second stage of the construction of the reservoir «Garaşsyzlygyň 15 ýyllygy», which is being carried out at a high pace. This important task is performed by the production department «Başhowdangurluşyk» of the production association «Garagumderýagurluşyk» of the State Committee for Water Management. It uses high-performance equipment from leading world companies, such as «Komatsu», «John Deere», «Caterpillar». And for the transportation of sand, powerful «KamAZ» trucks are involved. The second stage of construction of the reservoir with a capacity of 1.65 billion cubic meters is planned to be completed in 2028. Then the total capacity of the reservoir will be 3.85 billion cubic meters.
