On 18-20 November 2023, the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe was held in Yerevan under the motto “OSCE in Times of Crisis: Role of the PA in Responding to Internal and External Challenges.”

About 300 delegates from 57 member states of the structure, including Turkmenistan, visited Armenia to participate in the OSCE PA meeting.

Speaking at the session “Addressing security: OSCE’s role in an era of conflict,” the representative of Turkmenistan voiced the initiatives put forward by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly related to peace and security.

It was noted that one of the initiatives is related to the beginning of a discussion on the possibilities of developing a Global Security Strategy based on the principles of the UN Charter, taking into account current realities. This strategy should include preventive diplomacy and the use of the potential of neutrality for the peaceful resolution of disputes.

The second initiative is related to the creation, under the auspices of the UN of the format of the Conference on Security in Central Asia and adjacent zones, the purpose of which is to develop approaches and solutions aimed at bringing closer the efforts of the Central Asian countries and world community in ensuring sustainable, conflict-free development of this region.

Concluding the speech it was expressed that these proposals would find support from the OSCE PA member states and it was emphasized that Turkmenistan is ready to further develop parliamentary cooperation on the basis of neutrality and a peaceful policy.
