The Embassy held a briefing dedicated to the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution “December 12th - International Day of Neutrality”

On December 1, 2017 in the hall of Press conferences of the Noyan Tapan Information Center the Embassy of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia held a briefing dedicated to the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution initiated by Turkmenistan “December 12th  - International Day of Neutrality”

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the heads of diplomatic missions and diplomats accredited in Armenia, representatives of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, professors of Armenian universities, as well as representatives of the scientific circles and mass media of Armenia attended the event.

The participants of the briefing were informed that on December 12, 2017 the world will celebrate a new international holiday - the International Day of Neutrality for the first time. This decision was made at the 71st  Session of the UN General Assembly when the world community unanimously adopted the resolution initiated by Turkmenistan on the establishment of an International Day of Neutrality. Thus, the national Turkmen holiday - December 12 - became an international one.

The guests of the briefing also got acquainted with the current foreign policy themes of the neutral Turkmen state, that the permanent positive neutrality, as the basis of the country's foreign policy, contributed to the creation of a favorable international environment for its development, establishment and development of friendly, partnership relations with all countries of the world. In this context, the establishment of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat in December 2007 was also mentioned. The role of the Center, first of all, is to facilitate the dialogue of Central Asian governments in the search for solutions to emerging problems and the removal of potential threats; support regular contacts with international organizations operating in the region, in encouraging their peace efforts and initiatives; cooperation with other UN Agencies working in the field of sustainable development and conflict prevention.

It was also noted that thanks to the peaceful policymaking course of the nation's Leader, Turkmenistan has become a reliable ally and an effective partner of the United Nations in maintaining political stability in the region, developing good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation.

Proclaiming and implementing the principles of peacefulness, harmony, tolerance and humanism in the society, in the internal life, the Turkmen state projects these concepts and on its mutual relations with the outside world. The status of permanent positive neutrality is the personification of freedom and independence of Turkmenistan, the dignity, honor and national pride of the Turkmen people, their desire to live in peace, friendship and harmony with the peoples of all countries.
