TURKMEN VEGETABLES ON THE SHELVES OF CIS

The agricultural producers of Turkmenistan have doubled export of the greenhouse tomatoes. According to preliminary data, 53,3 thousand ton of vegetables in the amount of over 53,3 million US dollars were shipped to other countries within nine months. The production of the Turkmen exporters is successfully sold in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan. Most of greenhouse tomatoes were supplied to Russian Federation - over 32 thousand ton. It allowed Turkmenistan to take a fourth rating position among the greenhouse tomatoes suppliers to RF.

According to the experts of “East Fruit”, if earlier on Turkmenistan was rather small supplier and didn’t provide considerable competition for other participants, but now the Turkmen tomatoes actively compete in the foreign markets. Upon the information of “East Fruit” analysts, on the background of the continuing decrease of the greenhouse tomatoes import in RF in 2021, it became a true sensation an expansion of Turkmenistan to this market. At that, in terms of volume of supply, Turkmenistan almost reached Uzbekistan, which has increased export within the year as well, but not in such significant scope. Moreover, the Turkmen vegetables are valued in the CIS market for their excellent taste properties and low costs.

According to the agricultural department of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, a tomato harvest grown in our country, exceeded demand of the internal market in several times. The vegetable growers are planning to crop from their plantation dozens thousand ton more of fresh vegetables by the end of the year.

The entrepreneurs of Ahal, Mary, Lebap velayat take an active part in the strengthening of the export potential of our country. Majority of the large vegetable producers, exporting their production, is focused there. This year alone six new greenhouses were opened in our country. The greenhouses were constructed and put into operation by the economic societies «Jguz ýol», «Daş Demir», «Altyn bürgüt», «Mähriban obam», «Altyn gala», entrepreneur S. Nazlyev. Now, about eighty private economies deal in growing of vegetables under cover in area over 400 hectares. The construction of 180 more greenhouses of total area 1680 hectares continues.
