SEEDS ARE BEING PROCURED

Specialists of the Dashoguz velayat forestry of the Environmental Protection Service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan have started the autumn collection of seeds of tree and shrub species. This event is one of the most important autumn forest cultivation works, which are important for the subsequent restoration and expansion of the green belt of the region.
These days there is a massive harvesting of seeds of various fruit crops, thuja, saxaul, kandym and others. This planting material will also be fully provided for the nurseries of the farm, the total area of which is tens of hectares.
In the north of Turkmenistan, as in other parts of the country, special attention is paid to the formation of forest zones, including those outside the cultural and agricultural zone, to the protection of biodiversity. Such works, along with other large-scale measures to further improve the environmental situation and increase the efficiency of environmental protection activities, are envisaged by a number of national programs. On the basis of recommendations developed by Turkmen scientists on greening work and the most effective exploitation of the area, in the desert territory of the region, forestry specialists annually plant salt-resistant and soil-strengthening crops, such as, for example, seedlings of black and white saxaul, cherkez, kandym and other plants.
The work carried out annually, including as part of a nationwide campaign, on the widespread planting of hundreds of thousands of new tree seedlings, has necessitated a significant increase in the volume of growing coniferous, shady and fruit trees in forestry nurseries.
