TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES AND DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

Mobile World Congress (MWC) is one of the biggest conferences and telecom exhibitions, which presents latest technologies and mobile gadgets, is held in Barcelona on June 28 – July 1. This year, MWC is held for the first time in hybrid format; some of the sessions and speakers will participate offline, some in online format. Hoe artificial intellect, 5G, big data and internet of things will change the future and transform life of people will be the main subject of the conference. 

Head of SpaceX and Tesla Elon Mask is declared as a participant of the event to make video conference speech on Starlink project, which is intended to provide high-speed internet to the regions where it is not available at the moment. New ideas and technological trends, which form future world, will be presented by the heads of IBM, Verizon, Neuroelectrics, ZTE, China Mobile and other key players of telecommunication market. Discussions at the forum will touch upon the issues of 6G planning, occupancy in future, digital technologies as accelerators of innovations, new products and services, which are made in result of digital transformation of all spheres of life.

Progress and competiveness of each state mainly depend on the level of development of telecommunication sphere, digitization of the economy and social sphere in the modern world. In the last years, many things are done in this direction in Turkmenistan where national space satellite and established ground infrastructure allow providing wide spectrum of telecommunication services. Steadfast measures are undertaken for increment of volumes of internet network and provision of access to internet services for all categories of clients. For this purpose, new tariffs, according to which the cost has been reduced by 50 percent, have been approved in February 2021.

Due to increasing demand of users on high-speed broadband internet, the Türkmenaragatnaşyk Agency works on modernization of Internet system. It will allow reducing the price of internet services, expanding the sphere of digital education and digital medicine, electronic commerce service, creating modern information systems in all sectors of the economy.

Discussing these matters at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on June 25, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has noted the importance of integrated work carried out in the country today for digitization of all branches of national economy, introduction of scientific developments to production, which is very important in modernization of activity of the branches as per time requirements.

Having highlighted the subjects of digital transformation of communication sphere, the head of the state said that our country has started to implement big projects aimed at creation comprehensive communication system based on advanced technologies, enhancement of volume, quality and range of services, provision of wideband access to the World Wide Web.
