OUR PURPOSE IS TO USE THE HYDROCARBON RESOURCES OF THE COUNTRY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE TURKMEN PEOPLE AND ALL MANKIND

This idea became the underlying theme of the working meetings of the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the heads of respective structures of oil and gas complex, held in Mary and Lebap velayats, where the progress of tasks assigned in the “Program for the Development of the Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan until 2030”, was analyzed in details. Solving of a wide range of problems related to the increase of the production volume of natural raw material, quantity and range of products with high added value produced by oil and gas refining, technological innovations, advances in science and advanced technologies in the fuel and energy complex is aimed, first of all, at the benefit of the Turkmen people. Therefore, the head of the state defined the providing domestic consumers, as well as industrial processing of natural gas for the production of many types of household and construction goods as one of the main tasks of the fuel and energy complex. Because the natural gas is not only the high-quality and reliable source of energy, but also a very valuable and important raw for industry. Made from gas polyethylene, polypropylene are widely used in production of various production, including carpets and fertilizers, as well as environmentally friendly motor transport and aviation fuel.

Besides, use of enormous energy potential for the benefit of all mankind is one of the priorities of the state policy of Turkmenistan, creating the favorable legal, financial and economic conditions for the implementation of the investment projects in the fuel and energy sphere and development of the mutually beneficial international cooperation. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized in the meeting that for a short by historical standards period a colossal work was carried out on diversification of the gas supply routes to the world markets, establishing effective relationships with a number of world states and large companies, implementation of important projects of global importance. Initiating and implementing the projects in this strategic area, Turkmenistan significantly contributes to the activization of the international cooperation, formation of a global energy security architecture that meets modern realities.

Mutual beneficial and complementary is a long-term strategic partnership of Turkmenistan and China in the gas sphere, which meet the interests not only of two states, but plays an important role in providing of the sustainable development in all transit states, through which passes the transnational pipeline connecting two countries. Since putting into operation of the gas pipeline in 2009, over 320 billion cubic meters of the Turkmen gas have been exported to China. Only in 2021, about 34 billion cubic meters of natural gas was exported from Turkmenistan to China. Commissioning of the «Malay» gas compression station in January, 2021allowed to uninterruptedly supply natural gas to the Celestial Empire during the winter heating season. As it was noted in the meeting in Lebap velayat, in the near future the Chinese company «CNPC» and the State Concern «Turkmengaz» will held a new round of negotiations to achieve the key objective – expansion of partnership and activation trade in natural gas.

In his speech in the meeting Chen Huailong, General Director of the CNPC branch in our country, stated that in light of the growing trend towards low-carbon emissions around the world today and expectations of a significant increase in the share of natural gas in total energy consumption, Turkmenistan occupies a key place in the international energy system. Strengthening of the Turkmenistan's position on the world energy market is evidenced by activated in 2021 gas cooperation with Russian "Gazprom" and the recent swap deliveries of Turkmen natural gas under the trilateral agreement with unlimited terms between Turkmenistan, Iran and Azerbaijan signed in Ashgabat on 28 November. Within the framework of this agreement Turkmenistan sends -4,5 million cubic meters of gas per day to Iran, which transports gas through two ruts to Azerbaijan. During the year about 1,5-2 billion cubic meters of the Turkmen natural gas will be supplied to Azerbaijan via the territory of Iran.

Importance of the gas resources of Turkmenistan is emphasized by the opinion of some west experts, считающих, that gas sector is able to accelerate decarbonization and assist in achieving climate goals. Thus, Tilo Wiland, the representative of Wintershall Dea believes that decarbonization opens up new opportunities for gas cooperation. The role of natural gas as a transitional technology needs to be preserved and ensured. The best solution to the growing use of renewable energy sources is not to find, and many EU member states will need gas in the coming decades as coal is gradually abandoned, the expert stressed.
